Meet Alex
Todd Construction was founded by me, Alex Todd. My passion for working with my hands started from a young age, growing up tinkering in the shed, trying to understand how things worked. As my time at school came to an end, I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with one of Auckland's premier building companies, where my enthusiasm was encouraged and I was shaped into the builder I am today.
As my responsibilities and understanding of the industry grew, it became very clear that business ownership was the next step for me. This led me to take the leap and forge my own way in the industry, a process I am thoroughly enjoying.
I knew from the outset Todd Construction would have some core values: craftsmanship, collaboration, and innovation.
Craftsmanship
From beginning to end, this is what makes a project. Our standards are high in every aspect. Achieving what was set out in the plans to the level you and your space deserve is a high priority for us. This extends to our subcontractors. I have great relationships with tradespeople I trust to maintain the standards that need to be upheld on your project.
Collaboration
Between the client, designer, and tradespeople, clear and open communication and teamwork are critical. From advising on the design process where required, finding and maintaining a budget that works for everyone, and coming up with a system to make the project run smoothly and comfortably, trust is key to keeping everyone happy. This approach extends to maintaining a long-term relationship with our clients. Just because the project is complete doesn't necessarily mean we go our separate ways. Maybe maintenance is required years later, or some trusted advice is needed for another project. We will look after you.
Innovation
The New Zealand construction industry is changing fast, with new products and processes being developed all the time. It's your builder's responsibility to stay on top of these developments so you can be sure you're getting the most current and cost-effective systems for your project. This extends to the way our team operates day to day. We're always looking for ways to improve how we do things. Investing in new equipment, on- and off-site learning, and avoiding getting stuck in our ways lets us stay flexible and practise our in-house innovation, along with making it easier to work with others as all options are on the table.
